Beauty and The Beast’s sensory-friendly matinee at Seattle’s Paramount
For this Beauty and The Beast matinee, talking, standing, moving around or leaving a seat are all allowed. Seattle Theatre Group says patrons will not be removed for sound, movement or behavior connected to differing cognitive or developmental needs. The performance is Saturday, Jan. 2, 2027, at The Paramount Theatre.
Support for different ways of experiencing a show
STG describes a welcoming setting for patrons with or without neurodivergent needs. A quiet-and-activity area will be available inside the theater; fidgets, earplugs and noise-canceling earmuffs are listed among the lobby supports. Visitors may also bring items such as manipulatives, seat cushions, comfort objects and other personal support items. STG says its staff are trained to assist families.
The organization’s sensory-performance information also lists lower sound, low house lighting during the performance and reduced strobe or audience-directed lighting. It says patrons may use phones or tablets with headphones, and that the theater will have additional staff and volunteers, with a specialized therapist assigned to each seating section. A show-specific sensory guide is marked as forthcoming; check for it before the performance if you need details about a particular moment or adjustment.
A pre-show tour can be arranged through STG’s Education Department. For tour inquiries, contact [email protected].

Access services have different dates—and one detail to confirm
There is conflicting information about ASL at the 2 p.m. sensory-friendly performance. STG’s sensory-friendly program page says ASL is available for this performance, while its dated access listing names ASL-interpreted shows at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 2 and 1 p.m. Jan. 3. If an interpreter at the matinee is essential, confirm directly with STG before booking.
The dated listing also schedules audio description for Jan. 3 at 1 p.m., and open captions for Dec. 27 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 30 at 7:30 p.m. These are separate performances, not additional sessions at the sensory-friendly matinee. GalaPro closed captioning is listed for every performance; viewing captions on a mobile device requires the app.

Buying in person at The Paramount Theatre box office avoids online ticketing fees, but not the facility fee; the box office is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
STG says tickets other than qualifying series-subscription tickets cannot be refunded, exchanged or canceled.

No show-specific age rule is posted
STG generally recommends against theater events for children under 4 and usually requires a ticket for every attendee, regardless of age. Its FAQ says a baby or toddler may sit on a caregiver’s lap if not disruptive, but still needs a ticket unless the event listing says otherwise. No such exception is posted for this performance.
