A refused request for shelter is the turning point in the story behind Desolate Acres. The Waukesha haunted attraction is scheduled for October 30 and 31, 2026, at the Waukesha County Exposition Center.
From illegal liquor to a lingering curse
The organizer’s fictional tale begins in 1922, during Prohibition. Twin sons of a farming family turn their crops into illicit liquor and establish a hidden roadhouse. When a woman named Luna Evelina is refused shelter there, she curses the land; the roadhouse vanishes, leaving a farmhouse as a gateway between ordinary life and the cursed world.
That legend gives Desolate Acres its premise, rather than a documented account of local history. It is also not a promise that particular buildings or scenes from the story will appear at the attraction. Visitors looking for details about the layout, intensity or accessibility can contact the organizer before booking.
