On Dec. 12, the 1905 Hominy home opens for a holiday afternoon with room-by-room decorations, live music and a book signing.

The open house puts the house itself at the center: every room is slated for Christmas decorations, with live music in the parlor and an author signing among the afternoon’s activities.
Fred and Addie Drummond built the three-story late Victorian home in 1905. Its central square tower, second-floor balcony and false dormers shape the exterior; native sandstone forms the first floor, while the upper stories are wood-frame construction faced with light and dark green painted shingles.
The Oklahoma Historical Society also records how the house was serviced: a gas-generating unit in the basement supplied light, and water from a cistern was distributed by air pressure. Those details add the practical workings of a household to the building’s architectural story.

Fred Drummond came to the United States from Scotland in 1884. In 1886 he moved to Pawhuska, on the Osage Reservation, and worked there as a trader licensed by the government. In 1904 he bought a Hominy trading business, which became a foundation for the family’s later ranching, banking and real-estate interests.
The house connects that business history to a specific Hominy address. The Drummonds transferred it to the Oklahoma Historical Society in 1980, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places the next year.

The seasonal decorations are the backdrop for two named activities. Jim Garling and Susanne Woolley, joined by friends, are scheduled to play live music in the parlor. Author Rosanne McKee is scheduled to sign copies of The Arabella Effect and Oklahoma Roses.
The listing includes both activities within the open-house hours but does not give separate start times or durations. That matters if one is a priority for your visit; call 918-352-5583 to ask about timing.
