A different kind of Halloween movie takes the screen each evening at FischerFest FrightFest. The four-night series at Danville’s Fischer Theatre runs October 26–29, 2026, with three horror selections followed by the Sanderson Sisters.
Choosing a night at the movies
Wes Craven’s Scream opens the series with Ghostface and a group of teenagers who know the conventions of scary movies. Jordan Peele’s Get Out offers psychological horror instead, turning a weekend visit into a disturbing experience.
It (2017) takes viewers to Derry, where young friends face the evil associated with Stephen King’s Pennywise. The final night changes direction with Hocus Pocus: the theater presents the Sanderson Sisters’ outing as a family-oriented choice. Parents can check each film’s rating and content when deciding which screening suits their group.

A downtown venue with a long history
The films play on the big screen at the Fischer Theatre, which opened in downtown Danville in 1884 as the Grand Opera House and adopted its current name in 1913. The building was renovated after a long closure, giving the movie series a setting with a history well beyond the films on its schedule.
