Hal’s St. Paddy’s Afterparty 2027: The Night, the Day and the Ticket
Jackson’s St. Paddy’s Saturday begins well before the afterparty, with children’s activities and parades described in the festival guide. The afterparty has its own listing and admission terms—and no confirmed performers or activities—so planning the day means keeping the different events and tickets distinct.
One Saturday, several separate events
The festival guide describes children’s activities at Smith Park beginning at 9 a.m., followed by the M.A.R.L. Pet Parade at 10, the Children’s Parade at 11 and the main parade at noon. It gives the main parade a route from Court Street at West Street, north along West, east on Capitol and south on State to Commerce, finishing behind Hal & Mal’s.
There is a timing discrepancy to keep in mind: the separate event listing gives the broader Downtown Jackson festival hours as 1–10 p.m., while the guide’s parade-day schedule starts earlier and puts the main parade at noon. Those are different descriptions of the day; check for current organizer details rather than treating them as one reconciled timetable.
The afterparty is separately listed at Hal & Mal’s from 3–11 p.m. Its hours overlap with the broader festival’s listed 1–10 p.m. hours, but it continues until 11 p.m. The festival listing says the parade is free and the festival is ticketed; the afterparty has its own admission prices. Free parade access should not be taken as entry to either ticketed event.

A Jackson celebration shaped by its own history
The celebration began in Downtown Jackson in 1983. Festival history describes Malcolm White and friends creating a parade that brought together Mardi Gras and Rites of Spring influences; the festival is named for Malcolm’s brother Hal White, a self-taught chef influenced by Gulf Coast and New Orleans culture and a leader of the O’Tux Society. The annual event supports Children’s of Mississippi.
The Sweet Potato Queens, the masked Buckethead judges and O’Tux Society marchers are traditions of the wider parade, not a confirmed afterparty roster. The O’Tux Society was the parade’s first walking krewe, and its members pair tuxedo jackets with an intentionally varied range of other dress. These details explain the parade’s character, but the afterparty listing does not say which, if any, of its participants will appear there.

The race package is another way in—with different age wording
The festival guide places Run the Rainbow on the Saturday before parade day, not on parade day itself. It describes a 5K that starts and finishes at Hal & Mal’s, 10K, half-marathon and full-marathon routes through downtown Jackson, Belhaven, Eastover and the University of Mississippi Medical Center campus, plus virtual route options. The guide says race registration includes swag, a drink ticket and afterparty admission.
That included admission is labeled 21+ in the guide, while the afterparty’s own listing says the event is all ages and requires a legal guardian for attendees under 18. The sources do not explain how those terms fit together. Anyone relying on race registration for afterparty entry should confirm the package’s age conditions with the organizer.

The main festival is separately listed for Downtown Jackson from 1–10 p.m.; its listing describes the parade as free and the festival as ticketed. The afterparty has separate posted prices. The festival guide also lists morning children’s activities and parades, so its timetable differs from the broader event listing.

A separate event on the Saturday before parade day
The guide says Run the Rainbow registration includes swag, a drink ticket and afterparty admission marked 21+. It lists 5K, 10K, half-marathon, full-marathon and virtual route options, but does not give a registration price here. The age wording differs from the afterparty listing’s all-ages policy, so verify package eligibility before relying on it.
