At Hot Art Halloween Iron Pour, visitors can watch molten iron flow outdoors, then step inside The Crucible to see other fire arts at work. The West Oakland open house takes place Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m.
A choice of glass projects
Visitors who want to make something can choose between two separately priced Gather & Make activities. The fused-glass sugar skull is presented as a celebration of Día de los Muertos. The other project starts with a selection of Halloween artwork: participants place pre-cut masks on two provided glass cups, then sandblast the designs onto them.
Neither project requires previous experience. Both run during the earlier part of the open house, from 6 to 8 p.m.; the cup project usually takes about 45 minutes. Anyone hoping to join a tour as well can use that estimate when planning the evening.

Inside the open house
Alongside the outdoor pour, The Crucible plans live glassblowing and blacksmithing demonstrations, as well as art installations. Three facility tours offer a way to explore the space; food trucks and drinks are also advertised.
West Oakland neighbor CASS donated and delivered 2,000 pounds of metal for The Crucible’s upcoming iron pours, according to the organizer. The company also provides financial support for its Fuego Youth Leadership Program.
