Brandywine Creek’s werewolf legends set the premise for an evening outdoors on Friday, October 30, 2026. Legend of the Brandywine Werewolf begins at 7 p.m. at Brandywine Creek State Park near Wilmington.
A legend followed by a search
The event starts with stories about werewolves associated with Brandywine Creek, then takes participants into the woods to look for them. It is a seasonal storytelling-and-hike outing, with the creatures presented as the subject of local legend rather than established fact.
The hike is part of the experience, so anyone weighing the walk should call the Nature Center about the route, difficulty and accessibility before registering. A finish time and hike duration have not been announced.

The land beyond the legend
The park has a documented history apart from its folklore. The property was once a du Pont family dairy farm, and walls made from local stone in the late 1800s still divide the 933-acre park. It became a state park in 1965.
The event description does not identify the hiking route, so the stone walls should not be counted on as a stop during the program.
