CalFresh shoppers can exchange benefits for market coins and receive up to $15 in additional coins for fresh produce on each market day.

At Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, a stop at the Foodwise Info Booth can stretch a CalFresh shopping budget before the first purchase. Market Match adds a dollar in produce coins for every dollar of EBT benefits exchanged, up to $15 per family per market day.
Bring your CalFresh EBT card to the green Foodwise Info Booth during market hours and tell staff how much of your benefits you want to exchange. You’ll receive red CalFresh coins for that amount and an equal value in free green Market Match coins, subject to the daily family limit.
For example, exchanging $10 in benefits yields $10 in red coins plus $10 in green coins. Exchanging $15 yields the full $15 match; exchanging more than $15 does not increase the match at Ferry Plaza.

Green Market Match coins are for fresh fruits and vegetables. Red CalFresh coins cover a broader range of purchases, but not ready-to-eat hot food, alcohol or flowers. Neither type comes with change, so keep that in mind when choosing what to buy.
The distinction matters if you plan to shop for produce and have lunch at the market: a hot meal cannot be paid for with either of these coin types. If a seller is unsure about a coin or voucher, Foodwise says its Info Booth staff can help.

Saturday is the largest market, with more than 100 vendors around the Ferry Building. Tuesday is smaller, with produce and hot food options; Thursday combines fresh produce with a range of street-food lunches. Market Match is available on all three days. Check Foodwise’s weekly updates if you are looking for a particular seller.
The outdoor market is a California Certified Farmers Market: certified producers sell agricultural products directly to shoppers, while products such as bread and prepared foods are sold in an adjoining non-certified portion. Foodwise operates the outdoor market, not the shops inside the Ferry Building Marketplace.
