Plant. Eat. Repeat. explores edible container gardens at Astro-Fain
A container garden calls for decisions that go beyond what to plant. At Plant. Eat. Repeat. Workshop: Container Gardening for Edible Plants, Atlanta Botanical Garden and Food Well Alliance will discuss soil, spacing, feeding and longer-term care at Astro-Fain Community Garden.
Planning for the plant and the pot
The workshop looks at edible plants ranging from annual vegetables and herbs to fruit trees, with small-space growing as its focus. Participants can expect guidance on choosing containers and soil mix as well as determining planting and spacing needs.
The discussion also extends beyond getting a plant established: feeding and fertilizing are on the agenda, along with maintenance for perennial plants. That longer view makes the session useful for someone weighing how to care for a container planting over time, not just how to start one.

A series rooted in community gardens
Plant. Eat. Repeat. is a collaboration among Food Well Alliance, Atlanta Botanical Garden and local community gardens. The series combines gardening education with an opportunity to connect with community; this session also offers a chance to see what is growing at Astro-Fain.
The workshop welcomes all experience levels. The organizers list the subjects they will cover, but do not specify whether participants will make a container garden to take home.
