Taste of Africa brings food, music and storytelling to Northport
Food and music are only part of the announced program for Taste of Africa: storytelling and student presentations are also planned. Hosted by the African Students Association, the showcase frames those elements as a way for domestic and international students to learn from one another and share perspectives on the diversity of the African continent.
A cultural showcase with exchange at its center
The University of Alabama listing describes four parts of the showcase: traditional food, music, storytelling and student presentations. It presents them within a broad celebration of the African continent’s diversity, rather than identifying a particular country, community or tradition as the focus.
The stated purpose is also social and educational: the association describes a space where domestic and international students can learn and share. That makes conversation and student presentations part of the event’s framing, alongside its food and music.

The listing gives formats, not a running order
The announcement does not name dishes, musicians, storytellers or presenters, and it does not say when each activity begins. It lists storytelling separately from student presentations, so the listing does not establish that students will be the storytellers.
Visitors interested in a particular element should not assume they can arrive at a specific time for it: the published event window is not divided into activity times. The event page also links to an Engage page, but the available listing does not spell out whether advance registration is required.
