The Academy – A Fantasy Book Ball Weekend invites fantasy and romantasy readers, cosplayers and book clubs to a three-day gathering in Billings, October 30–November 1, 2026. Its premise combines an academy-style experience with a formal ball, rather than centering the weekend on the ball alone.
The event is framed around a gothic-fantasy world, with immersive classes and challenges alongside the ball. The class subjects and challenge formats have not been announced, so readers choosing between activities will need more detail before deciding what suits them.
The ball is described as formal, but its timing and any specific attire requirements are not stated. If it is the main reason for your trip, check those details and whether admission covers it before booking.

The event takes place at a hotel with on-site dining and a lounge. Those are hotel amenities, not confirmed parts of the Academy admission. For anyone considering a room, the hotel says its pool and waterslides are reserved for hotel guests.
