An 1880 house with ties to a Wisconsin governor is part of Marshfield’s downtown Halloween evening. Trick or Treat at the Upham House! takes place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, alongside Downtown Marshfield Trick or Treat.
One stop in a downtown evening
The Upham House event runs at the same time as downtown trick-or-treating, so families can plan a visit to the house alongside stops on Central Avenue and nearby side streets. Downtown businesses also plan to be open with specials.
The house event announcement does not describe a tour or other specific activities. If seeing the interior is important to your visit, check with the historical society rather than assuming a tour is included.

The house and its Marshfield connections
The mid-Victorian Italianate house was built in 1880 for William Henry Upham, who later served as Wisconsin’s governor from 1895 to 1897. His manufacturing company included lumber and furniture operations, and the house’s furnishings include sets made by the company.
Today the house is a center for the North Wood County Historical Society’s exhibits, activities and local history research. For a separate history visit, the society ordinarily offers tours on Wednesdays and Saturdays or by special arrangement; those regular hours do not establish a tour for the Thursday Halloween event.
