A live orchestra will play Tchaikovsky’s score for World Ballet Company’s Swan Lake at Alberta Bair Theater on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The performance begins at 6 p.m. and is open to audiences ages 5 and older only.
The orchestra is a distinguishing feature of the Billings performance. World Ballet Company says it generally tours with recorded music, while selected performances of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker have live accompaniment.
The theater advertises 50 international dancers, more than 150 hand-sewn costumes and handcrafted sets. Among the passages it singles out are the Dance of the Little Swans and the Black Swan’s 32 fouettés, a sequence of turning steps.

The company’s synopsis begins with Princess Odette, whom the wizard Rothbart turns into a swan after she refuses him. Prince Siegfried meets her at the lake and vows to remain faithful, a promise that could break the spell.
At a castle ball, Rothbart’s daughter Odile plays on her resemblance to Odette, and Siegfried mistakenly pledges himself to her. That confusion sends him back to the lake to seek Odette’s forgiveness. The company publishes a fuller synopsis for anyone who wants to read the story before attending.
World Ballet Company is based in Los Angeles and led by Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwick. Its dancers represent more than ten countries, according to the theater.
