UAB’s 2nd Annual ADRC Symposium in Birmingham
The published bios, rather than talk abstracts, are the clearest guide to the 2nd Annual ADRC Symposium: keynote speaker Beth Mormino studies early Alzheimer’s detection across imaging, biofluids and genetics, while UAB presenters’ profiles range from dementia biology to clinical trials and risk assessment. Three ADRC REC scholars are also on the lineup.
Mormino’s work spans several kinds of Alzheimer’s evidence
Beth Mormino is an associate professor of neurology and neurological sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine and associate director of the Stanford Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Her research includes early Alzheimer’s detection, PET and MRI imaging, biofluids and genetics. That range brings together imaging and other biological measures; it describes her research profile, not a published title or abstract for the symposium keynote.
Mormino is also an administrative co-lead of CLARiTI, a nationwide consortium whose name stands for Clarity in ADRD Research Through Imaging. She earned her neuroscience Ph.D. at UC Berkeley and completed postdoctoral training at Massachusetts General Hospital.

UAB’s presenter bios offer distinct research and clinical perspectives
Erik Roberson is a professor and interim chair of Neurology at UAB. The symposium listing identifies him as director of the Frances Gorrie Alzheimer’s Disease Center and the Killion Center for Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapeutics. His research addresses molecular mechanisms in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, especially tau-related neurotoxicity and genetic risk factors, and his work spans basic research, translation and clinical care.
David Geldmacher directs UAB’s Division of Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology and is a professor and Warren Family Endowed Chair in Neurology. He leads Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials and established a national clinic devoted to individualized dementia risk assessment and intervention. Those are areas of his work, not confirmed subjects for a particular symposium presentation.

Three ADRC REC scholars join the lineup alongside UAB presenters
The program lists Caesar Hernandez, M.S., Ph.D., an assistant professor and Tillman Scholar in UAB’s Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care; Arko Sen, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the Department of Genetics; and Stephanie J. Wilson, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, as ADRC REC scholars. They are distinct from UAB presenter David Geldmacher, whose separate presenter portrait appears here.

A lineup, not a timed talk schedule
The listings name a keynote, two other presenters and three ADRC REC scholars, but give no presentation titles, order of appearances or individual speaker times. The published biographies indicate areas of expertise, not confirmed topics for the symposium talks.
