Arkansas Cornbread Festival 2026: A Contest, Tasting Vote and SoMa Gathering
At the Arkansas Cornbread Festival, home cooks and culinary businesses enter separate cornbread contests. Visitors can watch the competition, then use a Tasting Ticket to sample every competitor’s cornbread and cast a vote—a format that makes the food contest the clearest way into this returning SoMa gathering.
Two routes into the contest
The amateur contest welcomes home cooks, including first-time competitors and people making family recipes. Restaurants, caterers, food trucks and other culinary professionals have a separate competition; organizers say a panel of judges evaluates the professional entries. The festival’s activities page also invites visitors to watch the contest, not just taste its results.
Sampling every competitor’s cornbread requires a Tasting Ticket; general admission does not cover that tasting. The ticket also gives visitors a vote for People’s Choice. Little Rock’s event listing says votes help determine awards for best cornbread and side item. It suggests bringing a muffin tin if you want to carry several samples at once.
Organizers invite applications for both contest categories. The professional competition page describes places as limited; neither competition page gives an application deadline.

A food contest beside art, makers and vintage finds
Beyond the contest, organizers plan food trucks, area restaurants, local makers and artisans. The vendor areas are being arranged around food, art and makers, with a separate vintage market. That layout offers distinct ways to spend time between tastings: follow the food stalls, browse creative work or explore the vintage section.
The organizer has not published a 2026 vendor roster, so specific businesses and products are not confirmed. Names on an older festival page belong to a prior edition, not this year’s lineup.

Why cornbread, and why South Main
Founder Anita Davis started the festival in 2011 as a neighborhood gathering centered on food, music and conversation. Organizers describe cornbread as a familiar thread in Southern family food traditions, making it a fitting centerpiece for an event built around coming together.
The SoMa setting was part of the idea, too. Davis, a South Main Street advocate, wanted the festival to bring people into the neighborhood and show them what was changing there. After a year away, the 2026 return reconnects that local purpose with the contest and community activities.
