History Alive: President George and Martha Washington at the Oklahoma History Center
Dan and Kelly Shippey will portray George and Martha Washington in two public evening programs, while Tuesday’s daytime sessions are set aside for school groups. That distinction is the key to planning History Alive at the Oklahoma History Center: the free daytime program is not listed as a public drop-in, and educators are asked to register their students.
Two commemorative frames, one founding-era focus
The Oklahoma History Center places the Shippeys’ portrayals within America250 and Oklahoma statehood commemorations. The event description does not explain a direct historical connection between those two commemorative frames; its stated subject is George and Martha Washington and the founding era.

The daytime sessions are designed for school groups
For students, the museum describes a living-history experience intended to explore the Washingtons’ lives, experiences and legacies through historical interpretation. That gives educators a clear learning focus, while the listing leaves the specific scenes, topics and degree of audience participation open.
