Raven Writings: Teen Blackout Poetry Workshop invites teens to make a poem with a spooky twist at Louisville’s Parkland Library on October 29, 2026.
A poem made by choosing what stays
Blackout poetry starts with existing text: the writer selects words to keep and obscures others, allowing the remaining words to form a new poem. The choices give an ordinary page a different meaning.
For Raven Writings, the library suggests mysterious language and gothic ideas as inspiration. It’s a making session for ages 13–18, with a Halloween-season theme; the library does not identify the text or materials participants will use.
