Before Pilobolus performs TRIPS in Dallas, a company dancer joins Charles Santos to discuss how the group makes its physically demanding work.

The Santos Salon Series with Pilobolus puts a dancer’s perspective alongside the company’s Dallas performances. Ryan Hayes joins moderator Charles Santos for a free, RSVP-only pre-performance conversation on November 6 and 7, 2026.
Hayes is expected to discuss the trust involved in Pilobolus’s partnering, the company’s collaborative creative process and the artistry behind TRIPS. Santos, the executive and artistic director of TITAS/DANCE UNBOUND, moderates the conversation.
Hayes brings a teaching perspective as well as a performer’s: He co-teaches Partnering for Broadway in New York and guest-teaches at universities, studios and intensives. He studied dance performance at Gonzaga University and continued his training at the Steps on Broadway Conservatory.
The salon announcement associates Hayes with the works Walklyndon, Flight and Lamentation Variations. Those titles help place his experience in context, but they are not a confirmed list of the pieces audiences will see in TRIPS.

The separately listed TRIPS performance is conceived as a connected journey rather than simply a collection of unrelated dances. Its description points to physical feats and humor, with an intergalactic captain guiding the sequence.
Pilobolus’s beginnings also help explain the range of interests behind the company: The performance listing traces its start to three college students, Moses Pendleton, Jonathan Wolken and Steve Johnson, whose backgrounds included literature, science and athletics.
