The Nov. 13 wheel-throwing class at Windgate Art School is sold out. Each of the two adult participants is to make an individual ceramic piece, which AMFA says will be fired and ready for pickup about four weeks later.

The work from AMFA’s Nov. 13 Art For Two pottery class has a second stage: after the evening at the wheel, participants’ pieces will be fired, with pickup expected about four weeks later. The three-hour session introduces centering, pulling and forming clay; it does not end with finished pottery in hand.
The announced lesson follows three fundamentals of wheel work: centering clay, pulling it and forming it. An expert ceramic artist will guide the hands-on instruction, but AMFA does not name the instructor.
Each person in the pair makes an individual functional ceramic piece. The class is open to beginners, and materials are included, so participants do not need prior pottery experience or to bring class supplies.

The pieces are not ready to take home at the end of class. AMFA says they will be fired and ready for pickup approximately four weeks afterward, a useful distinction for anyone planning around the finished work.
