Ballet Mississippi’s Sugar Plum Tea Party in Jackson: What to Know
The Sugar Plum Tea Party is planned as a character-centered gathering before Ballet Mississippi’s December 6 Nutcracker matinee—not as a second performance. At Thalia Mara Hall, the advertised activities include meeting Nutcracker characters, photo opportunities, treats and holiday décor inspired by the Land of Sweets.
A social prelude, not another performance
The tea party begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 6, at Thalia Mara Hall. Its published format centers on meeting Nutcracker characters, taking photos and enjoying sweet treats and tea-party favorites amid holiday décor inspired by the Land of Sweets. The listing also mentions surprises for young guests, but does not identify a menu or a specific character roster.
That distinction can help families decide whether the gathering suits their plans: the listed experience is participatory and social, while the ballet is separately advertised for 3 p.m. at the same hall.

Check both listings before booking
The tea-party page requires a ticket, describes seating as limited, and presents the Sugar Plum Keepsake and Sugar Plum Spirits options as VIP upgrades. The keepsake adds a Nutcracker ornament for a child to take home; the Spirits upgrade is a VIP beverage experience for adults 21 and older. The listed information does not give the base ticket price or spell out which refreshments and activities are included with standard admission.
The tea party and the 3 p.m. Nutcracker matinee have separate listings, and the available information does not confirm that one ticket admits guests to both. Check the terms for each event rather than assuming the tea ticket includes the ballet. The tea-party listing gives a public sales window from September 30, 2026, at noon through December 6 at 5 p.m. For the Nutcracker matinee, the parent presale runs September 30 at noon to October 1 at noon; public sales run from October 1 at noon through December 6 at 5 p.m. The 5 p.m. cutoff is listed as the end of ticket sales, not as the tea party’s closing time.

The tea party and ballet are listed separately
A ticket is required for the tea party, and the listing says seating is limited. Its public sales window is September 30, 2026, at noon through December 6 at 5 p.m. The base ticket price and standard admission terms are not stated. The separate Nutcracker matinee listing gives a parent presale from September 30 at noon to October 1 at noon, followed by public sales from October 1 at noon through December 6 at 5 p.m. Confirm the terms for both events if you plan to attend both; the listings do not say that one ticket covers the other.
