Baltimore, You Have No Idea: Dan Rodricks’s Final Run at the BMA
A columnist’s work can move from the unusual legal predicament of a local burglary fence’s ex-wife to an effort to reduce criminal violence. That range is part of the source material for Dan Rodricks’s Baltimore, You Have No Idea, returning to Meyerhoff Theater for its fourth and final run.
Stories from the column beat
Rodricks built the play from people and events he covered during more than four decades as a Baltimore Sun columnist. Its subjects include his first column, about the ex-wife of a local burglary fence and her unusual legal predicament, and his “Dear Drug Dealers” columns, an attempt to reduce criminal violence. The material also reaches into lighter observations and everyday encounters around Baltimore.
Those examples point to a range of reported stories rather than a single plot line. The organizers describe this edition as bringing back audience favorites alongside new stories, but do not publish a scene-by-scene outline.

A new edition, with one named song
The current listing names “The Ballad of the Baltimore Bridge,” performed live by members of Love Riot. It is the specifically identified musical number for this edition; the listing does not give a complete song program.
Tony Tsendeas directs the 2026 production. The earlier 2022, 2023 and 2024 runs were directed by Will Schwarz, and the production history credits original music to Mat Lane.

$37 general admission; book through the organizer
Tickets cost $37, with no separate service or processing fees. All seats are general admission, with no assigned or reserved places. Tickets are sold through the organizer’s website; after ordering, choose printed tickets, digital delivery by email or text, a digital wallet, or will-call pickup.
The organizer recommends buying in advance because earlier performances sold out. It says a box-office ticket might be possible if purchased seats go unused, but does not promise availability. Tickets are nonrefundable. Exchanges may be possible depending on availability; contact [email protected].
Baltimore Museum of Art members can request a $6 discount code from [email protected]. A 10% group discount applies automatically to purchases of 10 or more tickets in a single transaction. It cannot be applied retroactively or across separate orders.

Allow about two hours for the visit
The play usually runs about 90 minutes without an intermission. The organizer suggests allowing roughly two hours in all for arriving, finding a seat, curtain call and leaving; that is an estimate, not a scheduled end time.
No age policy is stated
The organizer notes that some scenes may refer to gun violence and its effects on victims and families, as well as drug addiction. It does not state an age restriction.
Share accommodation needs when ordering
In the ticket-order cart, use the Accessibility Accommodations form and add notes about the assistance you may need. In the theater, an entrance-level wide aisle has about a dozen chairs and open spaces reserved for patrons with limited mobility; the organizer says there are no steps or obstacles to navigate in that area. Accessible seating availability varies by performance, so contact the organizer about a specific need.
A limited number of accessible parking spaces are beside the BMA East Lobby. Patrons with accessibility placards or plates can park free in either BMA lot after taking their parking ticket to the East Lobby Welcome Desk for verification and validation. Assisted listening devices are available on request from the theater box office.
