At LACMA’s Communities Create LA! Blossoms in Watercolor, tissue paper becomes textured flowers in a mixed-media arrangement shaped by each participant.
Participants use watercolor, tissue paper and pipe cleaners to make their own floral arrangements. The activity pairs watercolor with paper flowers, giving visitors several materials to combine rather than a single prescribed finished design.
The inspiration is Stephanie Shih’s 梅國 (Still life with chamoy and Dirty T Tamarindo) (2025). LACMA identifies the work as a reference for the activity; its event description focuses on making a personal arrangement.
