Blake Burger leads an adult class on tincture methods, herb qualities and formulation, with herbal wines and cordials also on the agenda.

All times are local to the venue · America/Denver
Cordials and Tincture treats herbal preparation as both a hands-on process and a set of choices: participants will work with different tincture methods, consider how herb qualities relate to formulation, and discuss and prepare herbal wines and cordials.
A tincture, as described for this class, is made by soaking plant material in alcohol. The session draws on basic principles of Ayurveda and asks participants to consider herbs’ qualities, characteristics and functions when thinking about formulation.
The class includes preparation using different tincture methods, as well as discussion and preparation of herbal wines and cordials. That wider scope gives the two-hour session more than one kind of herbal preparation to work through.

Blake Burger joined Denver Botanic Gardens as a seasonal gardener and moved into a full-time horticulturalist position after a year. His work at the Gardens has included tropical and native plants, vegetables and herbs; after earning an herbalist certification in Denver, he began working with medicinal plants there.
Burger founded the Denver Medicinal Plant Society in 2015, created and maintains York Street’s medicinal-plant beds, and helped establish the Gardens’ first Herbalist Certificate Program. He is also a certified yoga instructor. The Gardens says he led more than 1,000 yoga classes over six years and developed its yoga program.
