The 2026 Lanius Lecture turns its attention to the person for whom the series is named. At the Denver Art Museum, speakers will remember Professor Emeritus Mary C. Lanius and consider the continuing impact of her work.
Lanius, who lived from 1931 to 2026, was a curator and educator as well as an advocate for art history and scholarship. The evening is organized around reflections from people whose lives and careers she touched.
The series brings together artists, scholars and curators working in fields that art history and museums have historically marginalized. This edition approaches its subject through the perspectives of a professor, curators and an artist; individual speaking topics have not been announced.
