Every Thursday, 1:00–2:00 p.m. Weekly drop-in tours; no end date announced. Check in with a museum ticket at the Admissions Desk. Tours meet outside Osberg Great Hall, near the Museum entrance; space is limited to 15 guests, first come, first served.
The National Nordic Museum’s Docent-Led Museum Tours offer a guided way into Nordic Journeys, an exhibition that looks across the Nordic region and its history. The Thursday drop-in tour is included with museum admission.
Nordic Journeys covers an exceptionally broad span: the museum frames its core exhibition around 12,000 years and 1.3 million square miles. Its subjects include ancient nomadic and contemporary semi-nomadic peoples, as well as Vikings and explorers.
Emigrants and expatriates are part of that account, too, making movement beyond the Nordic region one strand of a larger story about its cultures and values. The docent-led visit offers an introduction to that range rather than a tour devoted to a single period.
The exhibition’s Seattle setting adds a local point of reference: the museum is in Ballard, a neighborhood with a history of Nordic immigration.
