Drey Skonie and The kLOUDs pair a retro approach with a broad Detroit sound: soul, funk, R&B and techno. The band’s “new, old school” description gives the Halloween party a musical identity beyond its vintage-costume theme.
A Motown connection in the band’s recent history
Frontman Drey Skonie won Artist of the Year in 2023 through the Motown Museum’s Hitsville NEXT Amplify Sound of Detroit competition. About a month later, the band won Masterpiece Sound Studios’ Cover Song Contest, held in honor of late Motown songwriter and producer Sylvia Moy.
Their contest-winning choice was Stevie Wonder’s Motown song “I Was Made to Love Her.” It is a documented part of the band’s past, not a confirmed selection for the Halloween performances.

Skonie’s work beyond the band
Cliff Bell’s account of the contest adds a Jackie Wilson connection: Skonie met judge Brenda Wilson, the singer’s daughter, who wanted him to portray her father after seeing him perform. The venue also identifies Skonie as playing Jackie Wilson in the television series “Higher And Higher.”

A recording and a live catalog
The venue lists the band’s latest album as “Rolling Skone,” available through iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and other services. It also says the group is recording live in the studio and points to online performances and new material. Those details offer a way to explore the band’s work, but the event listing does not identify the Halloween set list.

Vintage clothing is an invitation, not a rule
The party listing strongly encourages costumes or vintage attire but does not make either a condition of attendance. Cliff Bell’s general guidance allows for casual clothes or dressing up for a show, and the venue has an on-site coat room.
