In Fjord, a family’s move from Romania to Norway leads to scrutiny after an allegation of parental abuse. The Oklahoma City Museum of Art presents the film in nine screenings from October 30 through November 8, 2026.
Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve play a married couple who settle in a small Norwegian seaside town with their five children. Members of a conservative Pentecostal community, the family is initially accepted by its neighbors before the allegation puts the parents under suspicion.
Rather than offering an easy judgment, Mungiu uses the family’s situation to explore tensions between religious tradition and the surrounding community, and between individual freedom and intervention intended to protect others. The drama asks viewers to consider when care can become control.

OKCMOA lists Fjord as Romania’s official submission for the 2027 Academy Awards’ Best International Feature Film category and says it earned Mungiu his second Cannes Palme d’Or. The director’s other films include 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days and R.M.N.
The museum’s Awards Season Preview places Fjord ahead of later screenings including Fatherland and Once Upon a Time in Harlem. For this film, the first weekend offers both afternoon and evening showtimes; the 146-minute runtime is worth allowing for when making plans.
Streaming begins October 30 through the film page’s Watch at Home option. OKCMOA says virtual-cinema prices, viewing windows and supported devices vary by film, so check Fjord’s purchase page for its specific terms before buying.
