Intro to Blacksmithing: Forge a Bracelet with Robert Burns
Twisting, drawing and bending are all part of one small object in Intro to Blacksmithing: Forged Bracelets with Robert Burns. The Pittsburgh workshop on November 5, 2026, gives participants an introduction to working steel as they make a Viking-style bracelet or arm ring.
A bracelet with several lessons in it
Burns’s class uses a steel bar to teach several ways of changing metal’s form. Participants learn to twist and draw down the steel, make scrolls and bend the bar into an arm ring. The project combines shaping and decorative work in a piece participants can keep.
The instructor has worked as a blacksmith since 2008 and started Wilderness Ironworks in 2010. His practice brings older forging approaches into conversation with present-day design and technical knowledge—a fitting background for a class centered on a historically inspired form.

For anyone interested in a different forged object, Contemporary Craft also lists a wall-hooks workshop with Burns on November 17 and a forged-flower class on December 12. Those are separate workshops; check their individual listings for details before choosing.
