A one-day Contemporary Craft workshop pairs fine-silver metal clay construction with the mechanics of a working whistle.

All times are local to the venue · America/New York
A bird-shaped pendant can be more than a piece of jewelry. In Metal Clay Bird Whistle with Donna Penoyer, participants will use fine-silver metal clay to make a small bird that is also a whistle, learning about both its construction and its sound.
Penoyer’s class introduces one of her preferred techniques for constructing hollow forms in metal clay. She also covers how a whistle works and offers troubleshooting guidance, so the project brings together the bird’s form and its function as an instrument.
Penoyer has worked in metal clay since 2005 and taught workshops in the United States, England and Belgium. Her teaching also includes video tutorials.

Each student will bring one pendant to the pre-firing stage during the workshop, then leave it with Penoyer to fire after class. If you need the finished piece by a particular date, ask Contemporary Craft when and how it will be returned before booking.
The session is listed in Eventbrite’s Metals/Jewelry Workshops collection. Contemporary Craft’s broader workshop calendar also includes work in fibers, wood and other materials.
