Potter’s Wheel: a six-week clay class for children at RAM Wustum
In Potter’s Wheel, young students learn to shape clay into pottery through demonstrations and guided practice. The class meets over six Saturdays at RAM Wustum, rather than as a single drop-in workshop.
Shape, mass and texture
Willing’s course introduces wheel throwing as a way to make pottery pieces. Students work on shaping and refining clay while considering form, mass and texture—the qualities that give a piece its shape and surface.
The six-week format gives the class repeated time at the wheel with an instructor’s demonstrations and guidance. RAM does not specify what students need to bring, so families can ask when they contact the museum.

Check the age range before booking
Visit Racine County lists the course for ages 8–12, and RAM’s class overview gives the same range. RAM’s page title, however, says ages 7–13. Families near either end of the range should confirm eligibility with RAM Wustum.
The series began October 3, 2026, and ends November 7. Anyone looking into it after the start should call the museum to ask whether joining an already-running class is possible.
