Closing Day / Halloween Market — Red River Market

Shopping for the table and beyond

The closing-day listing names more than 60 local vendors across produce, pantry, bakery, prepared food and other categories. Family Roots Farm and Red River Microgreens appear in the produce group; Farmented Foods and Three Bears Honey Co are listed under pantry goods. Hannoun Sourdough and Humble Bread are among the bakeries.

For a meal at the market rather than ingredients to take home, the ready-to-eat list includes Jumbo's Sloppy Joe Food Truck and Windsor Waffles. The lineup also includes beverage makers, artists and household-goods vendors. These are the businesses listed for October 31, though individual attendance and products may change.

A market built around local food

Volunteers established Red River Market in 2015 in response to a need for a central place to find locally grown food and for shared public space in Fargo-Moorhead. The market is a project of the nonprofit Folkways.

The cooking program connects the food for sale with ideas for using it. The market says its demonstrations use ingredients bought from vendors and provide recipe cards with shopping lists. Pierkku VonHinterlander is named as the closing-day demonstrator; the event listing does not specify a time.
