At Stage Fright: A Halloween Family Festival, the audience gets a turn to move: choreographer Daunte “Cheesy” Borner will teach zombie dance moves alongside a musical performance by Dallas students. The fifth annual festival starts at 10 a.m. on October 31 at Winspear Opera House.
Watch the students, then try the moves
Students from Personalized Learning Preparatory at J.W. Ray Learning Center are scheduled to present a Halloween-themed musical performance. Borner’s lesson offers a different way to take part, with visitors invited to learn zombie dance moves rather than simply watch.
There is also a DJ dance party and a costume contest for families interested in making their Halloween outfits part of the outing. Individual activity times have not been announced, so check for updates if the student performance or dance lesson is central to your plans.

Stickers, zoo creatures and adoptable pets
Stage Fright is hosted in collaboration with the Dallas Police Department’s Office of Community Affairs. Its “stick-r-treat” activity invites visitors to learn about police units and collect a sticker when they visit a unit.
Animal-interested families have two distinct stops to consider: the Dallas Zoo is bringing creatures, while the SPCA of Texas plans an adoption booth and dog adoption van where visitors can meet adoptable pets and learn about the organization. JBW Vending is listed for carnival bites; food prices have not been announced.
