The Emmy-winning actor takes on Holbrook’s one-person play at the Winspear Opera House in April 2027.

Hal Holbrook wrote and originally performed Mark Twain Tonight!, a solo play built around the author’s humor and observations. In Dallas, Richard Thomas takes on the role in a performance presented by the AT&T Performing Arts Center.
The Center describes Thomas as the first actor authorized to perform Mark Twain Tonight! since Holbrook. That connection makes the Dallas engagement a chance to see another performer take on a work closely associated with its creator, with Twain at the center of the evening.
Thomas’s work ranges from John-Boy Walton to Atticus Finch in the touring production of To Kill a Mockingbird. He has also appeared in Ozark and on Broadway in Our Town. Here, the one-person format puts his interpretation of Twain’s humor and observations at the heart of the performance.
