At Weaving with Aneesa Shami Zizzo, the work made at a frame loom will become part of a larger project. Visitors to Craft Contemporary on November 22 can weave small squares for a collaborative rug planned for the museum’s upcoming Air exhibition.
The session takes place in the museum’s community gallery gathering space, where participants will weave with Zizzo using frame looms, yarn and fabric strips. Rather than making a separate rug to take home, each participant can contribute a square to the collective piece.
Visitors’ squares will join those made by volunteers, museum staff and Zizzo. Craft Contemporary describes this as a project for select Sundays and plans to feature the completed rug in Air, which the event listing says will open in May 2027.

The museum welcomes people who have never woven as well as those with experience. The activity offers a way to try working on a frame loom while making one part of a shared textile.
The event listing names the loom and materials but does not explain a particular weaving technique or say whether participants should bring anything. Contact the museum before booking if those details affect your plans.
