Aneesa Shami Zizzo joins visitors at Craft Contemporary for a community weaving session on Friday, December 11, 2026. The project is a collective rug: each participant’s small square is intended to become part of a larger work.
The gathering uses frame looms, yarn and fabric strips to make the woven squares. Rather than making an individual rug to take home, participants are invited to contribute a piece to a shared project alongside squares by Zizzo, museum staff and volunteers.
Craft Contemporary says the finished rug will be featured in its upcoming Air exhibition, which it expects to open in May 2027. The museum also describes the weaving project as a series of gatherings; its program calendar lists other sessions separately, with their own dates and times.

The museum welcomes people who have never woven before as well as experienced weavers. The activity takes place in its community gallery gathering space, with the modest scale of a single square providing a way into the larger collaborative project.
