Assistant Curator Kristen Pignuolo leads a one-hour tour of an Art Nouveau exhibition spanning 127 works and five themes, from Japonisme to the shift toward industry and Deco.

All times are local to the venue · America/Chicago
The Triumph of Nature takes visitors through five distinct lenses on Art Nouveau: Japonisme, Siegfried Bing and the Maison de l’Art Nouveau, École de Nancy, nature, and the turn from Nouveau to Deco and industry. Assistant Curator Kristen Pignuolo will use the exhibition’s themes and highlights as the basis for a one-hour tour at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art on December 12.
The section titles move among different ways of approaching the works: the first three name Japonisme, Siegfried Bing and the Maison de l’Art Nouveau, and École de Nancy. The fourth takes the exhibition’s title, The Triumph of Nature; the last, From Nouveau to Deco: The Triumph of Industry, sets a transition toward industry and Deco beside the show’s focus on nature. That structure gives Pignuolo a framework for discussing the exhibition beyond a roll call of artists.
The 127 works range across paintings, prints, jewelry and furniture. Louis Comfort Tiffany, Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha and Aubrey Beardsley are among the artists featured. The event page also identifies a detail from Mucha’s 1896 color lithograph Spring, a gift of Walter P. Chrysler Jr.; it does not promise that work as a stop on the tour.

The exhibition draws primarily on works given to the Chrysler Museum of Art by Walter P. and Jean Chrysler. Some of those objects had been displayed in the couple’s homes before they entered the museum collection, connecting the works’ history to the places where they were once kept.
The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk organized the exhibition, and International Arts & Artists in Washington, D.C., is touring it. At OKCMOA, the exhibition is on view October 31, 2026, through January 24, 2027; the December 12 tour is one separate, scheduled opportunity to explore it. The exhibition calendar also lists a distinct same-day program, Drop-In Art: Photos with Santa & Art Nouveau-Inspired Frames. Check that program’s separate details before planning to attend both.
