From Rural Vermont to a Washington Conversation About Boys and Young Men
The Seattle screening of Gone Guys has two parts: a 45-minute documentary and a conversation about work to improve well-being and opportunity for boys and young men across Washington. The film begins with rural Vermont stories; the discussion brings the subject to the local community. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, at Kerry Hall.
The examples move from school to community
The film’s companion materials point to several programs and places featured in its portraits. At Montpelier High School, teacher Joe Carroll created a Healthy Masculinity course where students consider what being a man means to them and how classroom ideas relate to life beyond school. North Country Union High School’s Kingdom Course uses place-based, hands-on learning across science, physical education and language arts.
Other examples extend the conversation beyond school. The King Street Center’s Academic & Career Exploration program introduces teens to career paths and job options and helps them plan for life after high school. Dad Guild provides community, education and peer support for dads adapting to changing parenting roles. These examples offer a sense of the documentary’s attention to practical ways people and organizations can build connection and opportunity.

The Seattle conversation turns to Washington
After the film, the panel and audience discussion will focus on ongoing efforts to improve well-being, opportunity and outcomes for boys and young men across Washington. The event invites attendees to ask questions and share ideas, making the discussion a distinct second part of the evening rather than a screening alone.
Seattle Theatre Group, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound and the Washington Initiative for Boys and Men are presenting the event. The Washington State Building & Construction Trades Council is credited with sponsoring the film license. The event listings do not identify the panelists or a moderator.

A Capitol Hill venue with an arts-and-education history
Kerry Hall is at 710 E Roy St in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. Built in 1921, it was the original home of Cornish College of the Arts in the early 1920s. Seattle Theatre Group now describes the building as a community-centered arts space and a place to preserve for public use.
That history gives this screening a local connection to education and community gathering, while the film’s rural Vermont setting remains distinct from the Seattle event.
