LACMA’s In Focus Tour follows connections across the Atlantic galleries
Three artworks set the scale for LACMA’s In Focus Tour: Coastal Connections, Atlantic Ocean: this is a guided look at one section of the David Geffen Galleries, not a survey of the museum. The section provides a way to connect visual ideas and stories across time and geography.
An ocean section as a way to make connections
The Atlantic Ocean is one of four sections in the David Geffen Galleries, which opened in 2026. For this half-hour tour, a volunteer docent will use three works from LACMA’s collection to draw out relationships among artworks and stories associated with the section’s coasts. The announced focus is on looking across geography and time, rather than covering the whole museum.
That limited scope makes the tour a possible introduction to how the gallery section is organized: its ocean theme supplies a frame for considering works in relation to one another. The listing does not describe the individual artworks, so the emphasis is on the docent’s connections between them, not a promised checklist.

Three works, none named in advance
LACMA does not identify the three works or the docent leading this session. If a particular object is the reason for your visit, check with the museum rather than assume it will be included. The tour is volunteer-led and may be canceled; LACMA advises asking a team member on the day for details.

One focused gallery session
The announced program centers on three collection works in the Atlantic Ocean section. Its interpretive focus makes the relationships among works the main point; LACMA has not published a work-by-work list.

No separate tour fee, but museum admission is required
LACMA’s public docent tours are included with museum admission; the event listing does not state a separate tour charge. Everyone needs an admission ticket. Advance timed-entry tickets are highly recommended, and walk-up tickets may be available, though a preferred time slot might not be. Members can obtain tickets at the Ticket Office without a timed-entry reservation. LACMA asks ticket holders to arrive 10–15 minutes before their reserved entry time; late arrivals are allowed within 15 minutes of that time. Ticket sales are final and nonrefundable.
LACMA’s posted general-admission rates are $25 for adults residing in L.A. County with valid ID and $30 for visitors from outside the county. Seniors 65 and older and students 18 and older with ID pay $21 and $26, respectively. Visitors ages 3–17 pay $0 if they reside in L.A. County and $15 if they reside outside it; children 2 and under enter free. Members enter free. Posted rates for visitors with disabilities are $21 for L.A. County residents and $26 for visitors from outside the county.
Other listed free-admission options include NexGenLA members and one guest, reciprocal members of 25 museums, and Golden State Advantage EBT cardholders with two adults and accompanying children 17 and under. EBT visitors must show the card and valid photo ID at the Ticket Office; that offer is not available online. L.A. County residents with valid ID also enter free on weekdays after 3 p.m., which is later than this tour’s start. Metro riders with a TAP card receive $2 off general admission; KCRW and KJAZZ members receive 25% off. A professional personal care attendant accompanying a paying visitor who requires care is admitted free; no formal documentation is required, and the attendant ticket can be requested at the Ticket Office.
LACMA Security conducts randomized bag inspections. Bags 11 × 14 inches or larger are not allowed in the galleries. Coats and bags may be checked at the Ticket Office during regular operating hours. Security officers may ask visitors to wear or carry smaller backpacks and purses on their front or by their side to help protect the artwork.

Driving, parking and drop-off
The Pritzker Parking Garage is on 6th Street, just east of Fairfax Avenue. LACMA lists a $24 flat rate; parking is first come, first served, with no advance reservations. The garage is open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Accessible parking is on level P1, including standard, van and electric-vehicle spaces. Four spaces on level P2 near the elevators are reserved for pregnant people and families with small children. The garage clearance is 6 feet 10 inches and two passenger elevators serve the location.
For a drop-off serving guests with limited mobility, LACMA identifies Wilshire Boulevard and South Ogden Drive, in front of Urban Light. Cyclists can use racks on Wilshire near Spaulding Avenue or just inside the 6th Street gate. During public hours, bike-locker access can be requested at the Ticket Office; a Visitor Services Associate will escort the cyclist to the locker.
