A Saturday grocery trip takes the place of Lake City Farmers Market’s Thursday afternoon schedule in fall 2026. The extension, supported by the City of Seattle, gives shoppers more weeks to buy seasonal food beside the Lake City library.
Lake City Farmers Market has been part of the neighborhood since 2002. It is one of seven Seattle markets operated by the nonprofit Neighborhood Farmers Markets, which limits its markets to local farms and food vendors rather than craft sellers.
That focus goes back to the organization’s first market in the University District in 1993. The nonprofit says early conversations with farmers shaped its decision to prioritize farms and local food; it later worked with neighborhood partners to establish markets elsewhere in Seattle.
Across the network, fruit and vegetable growers form the core of the vendor mix. Other farms and food artisans add to it, including makers who cook, bake and ferment foods using Washington-grown ingredients. Those are descriptions of the network, not a list of what will be at Lake City on any particular Saturday.

The extended season is intended to bring fall harvest foods and locally produced ingredients to shoppers planning meals and celebrations. Exact offerings are not fixed: the organizer says vendors can change from week to week, sometimes at the last minute. If a particular farm or ingredient matters to your trip, ask at the Market Manager tent.
A conversation at a farm stand can also help with a question that a general market label cannot answer. Neighborhood Farmers Markets says some of its growers are certified organic, while others use different certifications or practices; some use non-organic chemicals. Ask the individual farmer about the growing methods that matter to you.
Food is the main reason to visit, but the market also frequently hosts activities for children and families and includes community organizations serving Northeast Seattle. The organizer does not specify an activity schedule for each Saturday.

SNAP shoppers have a choice at Lake City. Select farm vendors accept EBT directly, and the organizer says eligible fruit and vegetable purchases can receive an immediate refund to the EBT card, up to $50 per month.
Alternatively, shoppers can swipe their card at the Market Manager booth for tokens to spend on SNAP-eligible goods and receive an unlimited dollar-for-dollar SNAP Market Match. The organizer says its SNAP tokens can be used at any of its seven markets, while Market Match can be spent at any farmers market in Washington. Staff at the booth can help with benefit questions.
