Gallery Volunteers shape the hour through an interactive conversation about looking at art. They choose the works for each tour, with the aim of engaging visitors’ senses and building visual-literacy skills.
The tour includes art stops in all three named buildings: the Joslyn Building, Scott Pavilion and Hawks Pavilion. The museum describes them as architecturally distinct but connected, so this is a way to encounter the institution across its different spaces.
The Joslyn has more than 30 galleries, with art ranging from ancient to contemporary. An hour that crosses the three buildings offers a broad introduction, not a promise to see every gallery.

The volunteers choose the works on the day, and the museum says each tour is different. That makes the format a fit for visitors interested in guided looking and interpretation; anyone hoping to see a particular artwork should treat its inclusion as unconfirmed.

The listing describes one afternoon tour: an introduction to the museum, with Gallery Volunteers choosing the art stops for that day.
The tour is free and drop-in, with no registration required. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., with Thursday hours until 8 p.m.; it is closed Mondays and major holidays.
General admission is free and includes the permanent collection galleries and most temporary exhibitions. Selected temporary exhibitions charge visitors ages 13 and older; children 12 and younger enter those exhibitions free. The museum schedules free-to-all days for each ticketed exhibition.
