The art on the route is up to the Gallery Volunteers leading Public Tour: Meet the Joslyn. Their choices shape a conversation that moves through the museum’s three buildings on Friday, October 30, 2026.
A closer look, guided by conversation
This is an introduction to the museum through art rather than a fixed roster of famous works. Volunteers select the pieces for each tour and invite an interactive discussion intended to build visual literacy. The particular works for October 30 have not been announced.
Art stops are planned in the Joslyn Building, Scott Pavilion and Hawks Pavilion. Together, the connected buildings also span different periods of the museum’s history, although the announced tour focuses on art rather than architecture.

Three chapters of the museum
The Art Deco Joslyn Building opened in 1931. Its 1994 neighbor, the Scott Pavilion, was designed by Norman Foster with HDR and uses pink marble from the same quarry as the original building. The 2024 Hawks Pavilion, designed by Snøhetta with Omaha-based Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture, uses precast panels with pink aggregate that relates to the older buildings.
To continue exploring independently, the free Bloomberg Connects digital guide covers more than 70 works from several areas of the permanent collection and includes audio about the buildings. Featured works have English and Spanish audio and transcripts; some also have verbal descriptions or ASL video.
