At The Joslyn’s Highlights, the art on the itinerary depends on the Gallery Volunteers leading the day’s tour. Their choices give visitors a way into the Omaha museum’s collection through conversation and close looking, rather than a fixed list of works.
An introduction with room for discovery
The one-hour public tour is intended to be interactive, with an emphasis on using the senses and building visual literacy. It draws on familiar objects in the museum’s galleries and gardens, but the museum does not name the works that will be discussed on October 31.
That flexibility is useful to know if you’re returning for another tour: the volunteers make their own selections, so the experience can differ from one visit to the next.

More to explore independently
The Joslyn has three connected buildings and more than 30 galleries, with art ranging from ancient to contemporary. Its grounds include the Peter Kiewit Foundation Sculpture Garden and the Dorothy & Stanley Truhlsen Discovery Garden. The tour is a broad introduction, not a promise to cover the whole campus.
For a separate stop after the tour, the museum calendar lists Café Society: Art and Sociability in Paris, 1855–1914, an exhibition about French cafés and their relationship to modern art. The calendar also lists Jacolby Satterwhite: Country Ball 1989–2012, a digital video work that revisits a childhood home movie. Neither is advertised as a tour stop.
