One-hour tours. Listed sessions run November 3–December 18, 2026; check registration for availability. Tours meet in the Boettcher Memorial Center. Low-registration tours may be cancelled.
Banana, chocolate, orchids and palms are among the plants named for Tropical Trails, a tour that pairs a conservatory visit with advice for caring for common houseplants. The one-hour program stays in the Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory rather than surveying Denver Botanic Gardens’ full York Street site.
The Gardens describes Tropical Trails as an exploration of tropical plants and a chance to pick up tips on caring for common houseplants. Its examples—banana, chocolate, orchids and palms—give the tour a broad plant focus, but the listing does not promise that any particular example will be on view on a specific date.
This is a guided tour, not a hands-on houseplant workshop. The practical link is the care advice: visitors can encounter tropical plants in the conservatory and leave with tips intended for common plants at home.

The Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory is one of York Street’s internationally inspired gardens. Denver Botanic Gardens describes the 24-acre site as a collection spanning plants from around the world, with garden designs influenced by regions including Japan, China and the tropics. Tropical Trails narrows that expansive setting to one named place and one subject, making its one-hour format a focused option rather than a guided overview of the grounds.
The Gardens describes the conservatory as historic and nearly 60 years old. That context helps explain why this tour is set apart from York Street’s many outdoor gardens: its subject is the tropical collection housed in the conservatory, not the seasonal landscapes across the full site.
